「のに」は、思っていたことと違うことが起きた時に使う言葉です。
"のに" is a word used when something different from what you expected happens.
「がんばったのに、負けた」のように、残念な気持ちを表すこともよくあります。
It is often used to express disappointment, as in "I tried hard, but I lost."
