「立つ」は、すわっている人が体をまっすぐにして、足で自分をささえることです。
"立つ" means that a person who is sitting straightens their body and supports themselves with their feet.
人だけでなく、けむりや建物などが上にのびるときにも使います。
It is used not only for people but also when smoke or buildings extend upward.
